My name is Jim Spigener. I have been a lifelong resident of Texas, having spent the past eight years living in Magnolia. My wife Brenda, of 45 years, and I moved here to be closer to all of our children and grandchildren. My daughter taught in Magnolia ISD for 11 years, and her and her husband’s two children graduated from the Magnolia Independent School District. Our granddaughter, Alexandra, lives with us and attends Magnolia High School this year as a Freshman. I have enjoyed serving the schools Alex has attended in MISD, as a participant of the Principal’s Advisory Committee for BBES, and as an active participant of the PTO organizations for other campuses we have been a part of.
The early part of my career was spent at Rohm & Haas Chemical Company in Deer Park. While there, I participated in the Junior Achievement program for Deer Park ISD as both a sponsor and a mentor. Afterward, I took a position with Behavioral Science Technology Inc., a consulting firm that provides consulting to Fortune 500 companies. I joined the group when there were 5 employees and helped build it to a 350 person international consulting firm. As of today, I am Senior Vice President, having worked for Behavioral Science Technology for 25 years, and am an Executive Consultant. I coach Senior executives, assist executive teams with strategy and leadership issues; some of my clients include Shell, ExxonMobil, Alcoa, Eaton Corp, PPG and Duke Energy.
I am presently on the Board of Directors for the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, the board of directors of the Rohm & Haas Retirees Group, and I am a member of the American Speakers Bureau. I am also a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, and the National Safety Council.
I have a strong desire to serve on the MISD school board. This desire stems from not only our experience in this school district, but from a lifelong business career that has pointed out the need for a strong educational foundation for our leaders of tomorrow. I am looking forward to bringing my 45 years of business experience to helping the district continue to grow and prosper. I appreciate that the taxpayer works hard for their dollars and that each one should be used in the most effective manner. I want to assist the district in its journey to provide our children with the finest learning environment possible.
In moving to Magnolia we have had a very positive experience with the Magnolia School District. I am convinced we in magnolia have a responsibility to see to it that we prepare our children for the future and that we are preparing our children to be the leaders for an even brighter future I have a strong desire to serve the district and to bring my 45 years of business experience to the district. I believe we are one of the better districts in the state.
