Magnolia ISD Names Teachers of the Year

Canik has fourteen years experience and has taught music in the district for 6 years. Canik states, “I am in the most respected profession in the world. I am allowed to teach your children. This is an honor!”

The district also honored each paraprofessional nominee from each campus naming Laura Portillo from Smith Elementary as the paraprofessional of the year.

Members of the community and business leaders honored the teachers of the year with over $25,000 in gifts. Local businesses showed their support through various cash prizes and gift cards. This year’s banquet beach theme was prevalent as Child & Family Eye Care donated $500 spa basket to each winner, Walgreens of Magnolia donated totes complete with all the necessities for the beach and each teacher of the year received a trip to Puerto Rico!
