Saker grew up in Magnolia and is a graduate of Magnolia High School. She stated, "I am very happy to be back in the community that I grew up in and to work alongside great people who are passionate about the well-being and success of our students.”
The goal of the after school program is to incorporate learning into a fun and adventurous environment led by instructors employed by the district. The program will be designed for kindergarten through fifth grade and will provide a safe and positive environment for students each day after school. Students will have academic and enrichment based opportunities, be able to work on homework and have the opportunity to participate in structured recreational activities.
“I'm so grateful for Magnolia ISD to have given me the opportunity to start a brand new after school program that is fully supported by the school district. Our students and parents deserve the best options when it comes to out of school time and I'm looking forward to being a part of that," explained Saker.
Saker has 14 years of experience in after school programs and has experience managing budgets, and leading teams. She was responsible for overseeing a $4.2 million budget, managing 110 part-time staff during the school year, and managing over 400 staff members during the summer months. Prior to joining Magnolia ISD, Saker worked for the YMCA of Greater Houston. Saker holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Sam Houston State University.
She is married to her high school sweetheart, Peter and they have a 13 month old daughter, Scarlett. Saker enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and plays the guitar. They are active members in the Tomball and Magnolia communities and attend Southwinds Baptist Church in Tomball.
Parents can expect to learn more about the after school program in the coming month.
