District Science Fair Winners Advance to Region

Director of Science Sheri Gallemore stated, “We are so proud of our students! The students spend a considerable amount of time working on their projects and it is so rewarding to see what they have accomplished. The continued growth and success of Magnolia ISD science fair participants and winners is a reflection of our students, teachers and parents dedication to learning.”

For a third year, Glenn and Lorie Addison of Magnolia Funeral Home have donated funds to award this year’s winners. Mr. Addison will honor these students at the March 7 board meeting.

Volunteering to judge this year’s projects included representatives from Brown and Gay Engineers, City of Tomball, Davam Urgent Care, ExxonMobil, Gunda Corporation, Lee Truong & Yu Engineers, Lone Star College -Montgomery, Magnolia ISD, National Oilwell Varco, PBK Architects, Quadvest, Ring Exploration, Robert Allen Simmons Web Design, Sam Houston State University, Shady Brook Animal Hospital, SWCA Environmental Consultants, Texas A&M University Nuclear Engineering, Ward’s Science and several retired engineers.

In the Category of Life Science: 1st place “A Sticky Situation on Blood Coagulation” by Jensen Altom, Bear Branch Junior High; 2nd place “Pump up Your Beat” by Josh Denison, Magnolia Junior High; 3rd place “Fingerprints” by Viola Mundy, Bear Branch Junior High.

Category of Earth/Environmental: 1st place “Aquaponics Water Circulation Matters” by Daniel Renouard, Bear Branch Junior High; 2nd place “Here Comes the Boom!” by Daylan Meyers, Magnolia Junior High; 3rd place “Mung Bean Madness” by Makenzie Andrus, Magnolia Junior High.

Category of Chemistry: 1st place “Burning Biofuel” by Ty Beyer, Bear Branch Junior High; 2nd place “Essential Oils Antibacterial Cleaners” by Logan Hammack, Bear Branch Junior High; 3rd place “Stuck in Semi-Solids” by Chase Alford, Bear Branch Junior High.

Category of Physics: 1st place “Liquid Solar Sensation for Parabolic Troughs” by Gillian Culberson, Bear Branch Junior High; 2nd place “Cold Concussions” by Grant Ebel, Magnolia Junior High; 3rd place “Gauss Rifle Train: Fast Fuel-Free Transportation” by Trevor Burrows, Bear Branch Junior High.
