Commissioner Miller Honors Coltin Walton with November 'Grow' Award

AUSTIN — Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller is pleased to honor Coltin Walton, a sophomore from Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Texas, as the winner of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s monthly GROW award. The award Gives Recognition for Outstanding Work to middle and high school students who demonstrate leadership and excellence inside and outside the classroom.

Magnolia High School Student Places in National FFA Agriscience Fair

Magnolia, Texas (November 15, 2016) – Coltin Walton, a member of the Magnolia High School FFA Chapter, took 5th place at the 2016 National FFA Agriscience Fair at the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis. The National FFA Agriscience Fair is a competition for FFA members who are interested in the science and technology of agriculture. It is held each year during the National FFA Convention & Expo and sponsored nationally by Cargill, Chevrolet, John Deere and Syngenta.

Magnolia DECA Share the Warmth

Magnolia, TX ( November 11, 2016) Magnolia High School's DECA organization has partnered with the Angel Reach Foundation to organize a drive to accept monetary donations in order to buy blankets for youth who are aging out of the foster care system. The goal through this partnership is to raise enough money to buy over 500 blankets, in order to obtain this goal Magnolia DECA intends to reach out to the community by using social media. The DECA chapter has already created a website, where local businesses can host their very own warm clothing drive or members of our community can make monetary donations if they would like to be a part of this movement too.

Polls are open 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Please be mindful of the start and dismissal times for the campuses as traffic will be heavier around the schools during the following times:
Elementary campuses start at 8:15 a.m. and dismiss at 3:25 p.m.
The high school campus starts at 7:25 a.m. and dismisses at 2:35 p.m.

Magnolia ISD Launches Anonymous Alerts Safety App

Magnolia, Texas (November 7, 2016) – Magnolia ISD has added a new communications tool called Anonymous Alerts® at our junior high and high school campuses, allowing our students and parents to quickly, easily, and anonymously report urgent information to school officials. The system empowers students to report bullying, drug use or other personal safety concerns through private messages sent on their mobile and computer Internet-enabled devices.

Magnolia West Senior Received Reliant Scholarship

Magnolia, Texas (November 2, 2016) – Leon Liu, a senior at Magnolia West High School, was the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship from Reliant Energy’s Scholarship for Champions program. Reliant partners with the Houston Texans through the Powering Strong Minds and Bodies program to give college scholarships to exceptional students who excel both academically and athletically. The eight Houston-area scholarship recipients are selected based on excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, ethics and community involvement.

Magnolia ISD Men's Choir Concert

Magnolia ISD men's choirs from Magnolia Junior High, Bear Branch Junior High, Magnolia West and Magnolia High Schools will perform a concert "Men of Magnolia" on Monday, November 7th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Magnolia West High School. This concert is in honor of all veterans and will also feature the Magnolia West High School band. The concert is free and open to the public.
