Glenn and Lorie Addison Fund MISD Science Fair Winners

Magnolia, Texas (June 1, 2017) – For a fourth year, Glenn and Lorie Addison of Magnolia Funeral Home donated $3,150 to award this year’s Magnolia ISD science fair winners. During the May 15 school board meeting, Mr. Addison presented Chromebooks to all the first place winners in the district.

Magnolia ISD graduation ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, May 27 at Reed Arena in College Station. Magnolia High at 3 p.m. and Magnolia West at 6 p.m.

Magnolia High UIL Academics Double State Medalists

Magnolia, Texas (May 26, 2017) -
Magnolia High School Speech and Debate competed at the University of Texas in Austin on May 22 - 23 at the UIL Academic State Meet. The UIL Academic team was represented by junior, Ethan Eyre in two different speech events: Lincoln Douglas Debate and Informative Speaking. Ethan qualified to compete at this level by placing in the top 6 at the district meet and the top 3 at the region meet.

Magnolia High Student Council creates “Readers are Leaders” Campaign

Magnolia, Texas (May 25, 2017) – The Student Council at Magnolia High School developed and implemented a community service campaign benefiting Magnolia ISD elementary schools. The campaign, “Readers are Leaders,” was created in March with the implementation of the program this month. Students in this organization connected with the elementary students within the district to promote reading, citizenship, and leadership.

Magnolia ISD to Honor the School Lunch Heroes Serving Healthy Meals

Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Magnolia ISD nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, Magnolia ISD schools celebrated the fifth annual School Lunch Hero Day on May 5. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to 30 million of America’s students each school day.

Magnolia, Texas (May 10, 2017) – The Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter at Magnolia High School has qualified to compete at the BPA National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida on May 10 - 14. Magnolia High School will be represented by four outstanding students – Logan Bray, Kimberley Duncan, Andrew Nunn, and Jacob Sass.

Magnolia High School Students Medal at State in UIL Academics

Magnolia, Texas (May 1, 2017) – Magnolia High School UIL Academics team was represented by 12 students at the UIL Academic State Meet at UT in Austin on April 21 and 22. These students qualified to compete at this level by placing in the top 6 at the district meet and the top 3 at the region meet. At the state meet, Magnolia High School had entries qualifying in these events: Accounting, Computer Science, Feature Writing, Science and Ready Writing.

Bear Branch Elementary Provides a ‘Rest Stop’ for Monarch Butterflies

Magnolia, Texas (April 24, 2017) - Bear Branch Elementary School and the Junior Master Gardening Club (JMG) have been working to establish a Monarch Waystation Program in their campus garden. Each fall, hundreds of millions of Monarch butterflies migrate to Mexico where they wait out the winter until springtime. By creating and maintaining a Monarch Waystation or habitat, the campus is participating in conservation. The Monarch migration is one of the world’s natural wonders.
