David Slater Named Principal for Magnolia Junior High

Magnolia, Texas (May 11, 2016) – David Slater has been selected as the new Principal of Magnolia Junior High. He is currently the academic coordinator at the junior high and has worked in education for the past eight years. Prior to joining Magnolia ISD, he worked at Tomball High School in Tomball ISD.

Magnolia ISD Names Teachers of the Year and Awards $22,000 in Prizes

Magnolia, Texas (May 9, 2016) – Magnolia ISD named Heather Cowham from Bear Branch Elementary and Nancy Baxter from Magnolia Junior High as the 2016 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year at the May 5 banquet held at Magnolia High School. The district honored the Teacher and Paraprofessionals of the Year from each of the 15 campuses at the annual banquet. This year’s theme was based on the movie National Lampoon’s Vacation, complete with a six foot Marty the Moose to welcome everyone to the banquet and the familiar green station wagon designed with window cutouts for attendees to sit behind the wheel and take some fun photos!

Magnolia West High School Robotics Team Wins at Regional Competition

Magnolia, Texas (May 2, 2016) –The robotics team from Magnolia West High School recently competed at the Texas Regional Botball Robotics Competition. The team consisted of juniors Melody Lyu and Hannah Brown, and freshman Thomas Corless. Thomas was in charge of robot design and Melody and Hannah were each in charge of writing the program code for the team’s two robots.

Magnolia High School UIL Academic Team Region Runner-Up

Magnolia, Texas (May 2, 2016) – Magnolia High School (MHS) was the runner-up in the UIL Region 3-5A Academic Meet hosted at Magnolia High School on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23. This is the second year in a row MHS has been able to earn the runner-up title. The high school was also the region runner-up in 2009. MHS had 29 students competing at the region meet with 18 placing in point positions. Thirteen of these students will represent MHS at the UIL Academic State Meet in Austin, May 23 – 25.

Dr. Mike Metz Named Principal for Magnolia High School

Magnolia, Texas (April 20, 2016) – Dr. Mike Metz has been selected as the new Principal of Magnolia High School. He is currently the principal at Magnolia Junior High and has been with Magnolia ISD since 2014. Metz has worked in education for 13 years—seven of those years in intermediate, junior high and high school administration.

Magnolia West High School Student Places First at National Competition

Magnolia, Texas (April 18, 2016) –Magnolia West High School student Reagan Hardin recently competed in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference and placed first in the Fashion Design category. She received a $3,000 scholarship to Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, and a $4,000 scholarship to Texas Tech University.

members gathering in Amarillo March 30- April 2 to continue learning the latest on 21st
century challenges to leadership and the implications of those trends for educators. Session
theme for this, the fourth of five training sessions of Leadership TASB (LTASB), was “Where

Magnolia High School UIL Academic District Championships

Magnolia High School UIL Academic team won the 19-5A district championship for the third time in a row. This is the sixth time in the last nine years that Magnolia High School has been the district champion. The school’s team had 79 competitors who competed in 22 academic events. The team came home with 45 students placing in scoring positions and 29 of these qualified to advance to the region meet. The total points earned by the high school was 510 points – an amazing feat!

Magnolia High School SkillsUSA Students Place at State

Magnolia High School students placed at the SkillsUSA Texas State Competition in Corpus Christi April 1 - 2.  Brianna Freed, 2nd place Practical Nursing; Cristina Cruz, 3rd place Practical Nursing; 1st place First Aid/CPR Fernanda Mendez; and Jake Thompson, 2nd place Medical Math. Fernanda Mendez qualified for the national competition which will be held in Louisville, Kentucky in June. Congratulations to these students!
