Magnolia West Twirler Represents USA at World Championships

Not one, but two gold medals! Magnolia West High School feature twirler, Emily Perkins, competed at the U. S. Trials of baton twirling held in Shelbyville, Indiana and earned the opportunity to represent the USA at the World Championships to be held in Helsingborg, Sweden, in August! Emily travels to Sulphur, Louisiana every available weekend to practice with her partner, and travels to Baltimore, Maryland once a month to practice with the select team, in addition to her daily individual practice. Magnolia ISD Golf Teams Dominate District 19 - 5A

Magnolia, Texas (April 4, 2016) – Magnolia ISD Golf teams recently competed in the district golf tournament held on March 22-23 at the River Ridge Golf Club in Sealy, Texas. The difficultly of the course, and the wind gusts up to 30 mph both days created less than ideal playing conditions. Despite the challenges, the players had one thing in mind—to bring back banners! The teams have been focused all year starting with practice in August through the start of district competition, and they did not disappoint!

Magnolia ISD Students Compete at the Texas Science & Engineering Fair

Magnolia, Texas (April 4, 2016) –Magnolia ISD had four students compete in the State Science Fair March 31 – April 2, 2016 in San Antonio. All of the students did a fantastic job representing the District especially Annamarie Mader from Bear Branch Junior High. She received special award in the Junior Division for her project “Bring in the Reinforcements.” Annamarie received a certificate from the Society of American Military Engineers along with a medal, and a $200 check from the Naval Science Academy for her project.

Magnolia Education Foundation Hosts Sporting Clay Shoot in April

Magnolia, Texas (March 31, 2016) –The community is invited to play in the Magnolia Education Foundation (MEF) Sporting Clay Shoot on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Creekwood Shooting Sports in Conroe. This is the first year the Education Foundation is hosting this event which starts at 2:00 p.m. and includes dinner and awards. Straight shooters and novices of all skill level are invited to participate in this energetic sport.

Magnolia ISD Remembers Deputy Chief David Wood

Magnolia, Texas (March 28, 2016) – Magnolia ISD is sad to announce Deputy Chief David Wood passed away this morning. David Wood worked for Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable David Hill and was the liaison to the District. He helped to create a culture of a safe, community-friendly, school environment for our campuses.

JD Berna Named New Head Football Coach for Magnolia West High School

Magnolia, Texas (March 11, 2016) – JD Berna has been named the new head football coach for Magnolia West High School. He will join the Magnolia West Mustang community starting on Monday, March 21.

Berna graduated from Tarleton State University in 1999 and began his student teaching at Stephenville High School under then Head Coach Art Briles. He began his coaching career at Linden-Kildare High School moving with his head coach to East Bernard and Springtown High Schools.

Trustee Attends Program on Advocacy

(Austin) Gary Blizzard of Magnolia ISD was among a group of school board members gathering in Corpus Christi February 25—27 to learn the latest on 21st century challenges to leadership and the implications of those trends for educators. Session theme for this, the third of five training sessions of Leadership TASB (LTASB), was “Where Leadership Happens through Embracing Change.”
