Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

Magnolia ISD is celebrating Attendance Awareness Month with other districts across the nation.  Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child graduate from college and keep a job.  Research shows that students who have regular attendance at school perform better than their peers.  Students missing 2 or more days per month are considered to have chronic absenteeism and most often fall behind their peers in reading ability and other academic areas.  Students with chronic absenteeism are at high risk to drop out of school.

Tee Off with Commissioner Riley and the Magnolia Education Foundation

The Magnolia Education Foundation’s annual golf tournament, hosted by Commissioner Charlie Riley, will be on Monday, October 19th, at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club.

The tournament will be a four-person scramble. Tournament day check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. Box lunches will be provided by Chick-fil-A with a barbeque dinner cooked by Commissioner Riley.

Magnolia West Anglers Club Wins National Championship

Last year, all eyes were on the Magnolia West High School Anglers Club (MWAC) as the group made their mark in their first year competing in high school fishing tournaments. From September 2014 to June 2015, the group finished 20 high school tournaments and competed nationally with Student Angler Federation placing 14th in the state. The MWAC team qualified for three national championship tournaments taking the highest honor in the most recent tournament in Alabama.

Magnolia ISD Launches New Mobile App for Parents

NOTE: You must have a Home Access Center (HAC) account in order to use the app. If you do not have a HAC account, you will need to go to the district website. From the "Students & Parents" drop down list, select Home Access Center (HAC). You will need to click the Login & Registration link on the left side and then click "Click Here to Register for HAC" link.

Magnolia ISD is releasing a new mobile application, eSchoolPLUS Family, which will allow MISD parents to stay connected with their child’s school progress. The mobile application is used in conjunction with Home Access Center, a web based system, providing parents with detailed, real-time information about their child.

TXU Energy Presents Magnolia ISD with Energy Rebate

During the July Board meeting, TXU Energy presented Magnolia ISD with a $31,500 check for energy conservation efforts. With the assistance of TXU Energy alongside several aggressive in-house district energy conservation initiatives, the district has reduced its electricity budget by $1.4 million over the past five years.

Magnolia West Seniors Compete in SkillsUSA National Championship

Jillian Abendroth and Emily Navarro, both seniors from Magnolia West High School, participated in the SkillsUSA national championship competitions in medical math and basic healthcare. The SkillsUSA Championships, held in Louisville, Ky., took place June 24-25, 2015, as part of the SkillsUSA 51st annual National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. During the week, more than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students all state contest winners competed hands-on in 100 different trade, technical and leadership fields.
