Magnolia ISD Student Leadership Celebrates Graduation with Montgomery County All-Stars

The Magnolia ISD Student Leadership cohort celebrated the completion of the semester long program with a graduation ceremony held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott on May 27. The 24 students were responsible for planning the banquet which included an all-star lineup of guest speakers representing Montgomery County—retired County Tax Assessor J. R. Moore, Judge Kathleen Hamilton and U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady.

Ellisor Elementary #1 in Texas First in Math Program

This year, Magnolia ISD students in grades kindergarten through 5th participated in First in Math Online Program solving over 15.7 million math problems. Ellisor Elementary students were recognized on Tuesday having achieved over 3.5 million correctly solved math problems to date making Ellisor Elementary the number one school in Texas!

Magnolia ISD Chess Tournament Winner: Lyon Elementary

The Magnolia ISD elementary chess tournament took place today, Wednesday, May 20 at First Baptist Church in Magnolia. All eight elementary schools participated by sending 20 students. The kids earn points for their school by winning their matches. The school with the most points at the end of the tournament receives a trophy.

Magnolia ISD School Board Swears in New Member

Magnolia ISD School Board canvassed the results from the May 9th election and swore in newly elected board member Dr. Travis Moffatt during Monday night's board meeting. Moffatt, elected for Position 6, is succeeding Billy Thompson who retired after serving on the board for 18 years.

Magnolia JROTC Receives Distinguished Unit Award

The Magnolia Navy JROTC Unit was awarded the Distinguished Unit Award for school year 2014-2015. The award recognizes the top performing schools in a given area and is awarded by the Commander, Naval Service Training Command. Magnolia Battalion is assigned to Area 10 which is headquartered in San Antonio and is responsible for the proper administration of the NJROTC program for 57 units in Texas.
