Magnolia ISD is proud to announce Mrs. Lisa Bertrand as the new Magnolia 6th Grade Principal. She will fill the vacancy left by former principal Tim Owen. After serving as principal for over thirteen years, Mr. Owen has accepted a position in the MISD Transportation Department as Assistant Director.
Mrs. Bertrand has been dedicated to the field of education for over 21 years. She began her educational career at Bear Branch Elementary as a paraprofessional. After three years as a paraprofessional she decided to complete her degree and become a teacher. She first taught at J.L Lyon Elementary before moving to Magnolia 6th Grade Campus where she taught English and served as the Language Arts Department Head. Mrs. Bertrand currently serves as the Curriculum Coordinator at Magnolia 6th Grade.
She and her husband Kyle have two grown sons and one granddaughter. Their sons are both graduates of Magnolia ISD, have careers in law enforcement, and continue to live in the Magnolia Community. It was through her involvement as a parent volunteer that Mrs. Bertrand first realized she enjoyed working with youth.
Mrs. Bertrand is dedicated to continuing to inspire students and supporting the community in her new role. MISD is excited to have Mrs. Bertrand on board as our district’s newest principal.
