Magnolia High School DECA Awarded Highest Honors at International Conference

Magnolia High School DECA competed in the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Florida, from April 24 ‐ April 29, 2015. Approximately 18,000 high school students and advisors from all over the world competed in 36 different competitive events and leadership academies. Magnolia High School is proud to acknowledge International qualifiers and finalists Sasha Burns and Katterli Edwards.

Magnolia High School Welding Students Win in Area Competitions

The 14th Annual Blinn College Agriculture Mechanics Project Show held on April 29 had a record number of entries with more than 200 projects from 75 schools around the state. Ryan Villarreal of Magnolia High School took first place in the welding competition. His prize winnings included welding helmet, a buckle and a $1,000 scholarship to Blinn College.

MHS Award Winning One-Act Play Final Performance This Friday

"Dying For It," Magnolia High School's award winning UIL One-Act Play, will have it's final performance Friday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Magnolia High School Auditorium. Admission is $5. The show was named District, Bi-District, and Area Champion and was named Region Alternate, ranking it as one of the top One-Acts in Texas this year! This will be the final show at Magnolia HS this year, so don't miss this outstanding production.

Magnolia ISD Names Teachers of the Year

Magnolia ISD named Chris Canik from Magnolia Parkway Elementary and Jennifer Bailey from Bear Branch Junior High as the 2015 Teachers of the Year at the April 30 banquet at Magnolia High School. Each year the district honors the teacher of the year from each of the 15 campuses.

Bear Branch Elementary Receives Rainwater Harvesting System

Bear Branch Elementary in Magnolia ISD recently added a Rainwater Harvesting System to their gardening program with the support from the community and the Master Gardeners. The school is using this system to irrigate their vegetable beds where they have tomatoes, peppers, onions, lettuce, squash, beans and carrots. The school also has a greenhouse where they grow their own plants from seed.

Principal Named for Magnolia West High School

Brandon Garza has been named the new Principal of Magnolia West High School. Garza is currently the principal in Humble ISD at Ross Middle School and has almost 10 years of administrative experience. He has also served as the associate principal at Galena Park High School. Before becoming an administrator, Garza taught social studies, coached basketball and served as a high school guidance counselor.
