Magnolia Education Support Staff Association

Purpose: The Magnolia Education Support Staff Association's purpose (MESSA) is to improve the standards of individuals through study and professional growth, to promote fellowship, to increase intelligent interest in school and community relationship, and to render a finer and more efficient service to our schools. To be in conjunction with the rules and guidelines that the Texas Education Support Staff Association (TESSA) requires.Goals: Award a scholarship to a Magnolia I.S.D. senior and to also hold staff training for effective management (STEM) classes for our District and other surrounding districts by way of membership into the Magnolia Education Support Staff Association (MESSA) and fundraisers.MESSA is available to non-instructional personnel (front office staff, office aides, and secretaries) who work in the educational system. Annual membership fee is $10.00. By becoming a member of MESSA you will be eligible to take your required classes through TESA (Texas Education Support Staff Association). Classes are available for you to attend in the areas of skills, knowledge and self-awareness. These classes are hosted by area school districts, colleges and educational service centers. The program is referred to as Staff Training for Effective Management (STEM). Participants progress through program requirements to achieve the Certified Education Office Professional (CEOP) certification.Upon completion of the certification, you will be awarded with a stipend of $600.00 per year by Magnolia I.S.D. The stipend would continue each year with you maintaining the certification by completing six clock hours of job related study each year. Stipends are generated every September by Magnolia I.S.D. MESSA elects officers yearly who include a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. MESSA has at least three meetings yearly at the Magnolia I.S.D. Graves Education Support Center.
