Dr. Stephens stated, “The vision was to create a unique learning opportunity for our future leaders and develop a program for junior level students to learn about government leadership and how to be civic leaders of their community. This program continues to evolve and we are excited about the schedule this year.”
The program extends to the student’s senior year culminating in a community service learning project which is focused on voting and MISD Serves Day which is a community-wide service project scheduled for April 4.

The district's commitment to this program fosters these young leaders to develop a passion to make a difference and how each one of them can make an impact in their community. The leadership program focuses on leadership development, civic awareness of local, county and state government process, profit and nonprofit leadership and a course on etiquette.
