We are dedicated to providing high-quality learning experiences for our students. During this unprecedented interruption to our school schedule, we want to ensure our students have opportunities for learning experience that keep them on track in their grade level curriculum even while staying at home.
As we mentioned in our communication yesterday, we want to help our families who do not have a device such as a home computer, tablet, or a smartphone by checking out Chromebooks. The following are guidelines from the district as you plan to help facilitate learning in your household:
- All learning materials posted on the district website can be accessed from any device such as a home computer, tablet or smartphone;
- We are limiting one Chromebook per family per campus but we ask that you be mindful as we have families who do not have any devices in their homes.
- It is highly recommended that you set aside 2-3 hours each day for learning time. Based on these guidelines, each child does not need their own device:
Elementary -- 8 hours a week
Intermediate/Jr. High -- 12 hours a week
High School -- 15 hours a week
We understand you have lots of questions and we want to help you navigate through this unusual time. We have set up a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page on the district COVID-19 page which should hopefully answer many of the questions you may have.
On Monday, we will be adding Student Learning Plans for each grade level to the COVID-19 page. Our outstanding, dedicated teachers will be your point of contact for support in working through the activities provided. The activities will not be graded, but teachers will be checking in with students and helping as needed. By doing these weekly activities, your child will make progress on essential learning standards that are needed for the next grade level.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare to deliver independent learning opportunities for all of our students. We will continue to communicate with our families and keep information updated on our website and all of our district social media channels.
