District Announces New Campus Administrators

Magnolia Elementary Principal
Donna Covarrubias has been named the Principal of Magnolia Elementary. Donna has been in education for 26 years and most recently was the assistant principal at Smith Elementary.
She has been with Magnolia ISD for 23 years and has served as the assistant principal and a 7th grade science teacher at Magnolia Junior High.
 
“I am beyond excited to be the principal at Magnolia Elementary School. Looking back as a child who attended Magnolia Elementary, I was filled with the promise of a bright future and built relationships that have lasted through the years. This is one of my goals for the students at MES. Helping them build dreams through a strong education and positive work ethic will propel them into reaching their short and long term goals,” shared MS. Covarrubias.
 
Ms. Covarrubias holds a Masters of Education in Administration from Sam Houston State University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M. She looks forward to working with and supporting the students, teachers and community at Magnolia Elementary.
 
Associate Principal at Magnolia High School
Danny Gex has been named the Associate Principal at Magnolia High School. Gex has been an administrator for the past 25 years and is currently the Principal of Odessa Permian High School.
 
He began his career as a teacher and coach at Stratford High School in Spring Branch ISD. Gex held several administrative positions in both Spring Branch ISD and Katy ISD which included assistant and associate principal positions and principal of Stratford High School.
 
“I’m excited about returning to the Houston area and very excited about joining the team at Magnolia High School. The staff members that I have met over the past few weeks have been very welcoming and they seem like high quality people,” stated Gex.
 
Mr. Gex holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Masters of Education in Administration from Texas A&M. He also has his Master in Business Administration from Rice University. He looks forward to working with and supporting the students, teachers and community of Magnolia High School.
