Magnolia ISD has launched a COVID Dashboard for lab positive cases which will help inform the Magnolia community of on-going positive cases as well as recovered cases of the virus within the district.
As part of the District’s COVID guidance, all positive, lab-confirmed cases of individuals are communicated via email directly to the employees and parents at each campus. As a reminder, the campus will separately notify any employee or student who may have had close contact with a person or persons with a confirmed positive test.
Numbers will also be posted to the dashboard on the website when MISD is notified of lab-confirmed cases. Click here to visit the MISD COVID Dashboard.
As a reminder, if there is a COVID-19 positive case and your child and the positive case are wearing a face covering, your child will not have to be home for 14 days and may remain on campus. If your child is not wearing a face covering during the close contact period, your child will have to stay home 14 days until the incubation time has passed. Texas Education Agency (TEA) has defined close contact with an individual who is lab-confirmed with COVID-19 as:
- you were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes (accumulative) and not wearing a face covering and/or,
- they sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you.
- the risk of being infected through close contact can also occur when in poorly ventilated areas and infection can spread beyond 6 feet.
The CDC recommends gatherings no larger than your immediate household. As students socialize outside of school hours, please remember to follow the CDC guidelines. By gathering in small groups, this will help reduce the potential number of MISD students who may have to be away from the classroom if they are in close contact with another student who has tested positive.
