For a second year, Magnolia West High School was selected for the 2020-2021 Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy by Magnolia CFA owner and operator Kendrick Skipper. Twenty students participated in the program with the final project being Special Olympics for the Life Skills students at West.
Throughout the year, students participated in monthly Leader Labs during West Hour in The Zone with College & Career Center Counselor Kelly Kilpatrick and Student Support Coordinator Linda Kenjura. The students presented their final event, Impact Project, to campus administration and Kendrick Skipper during a Leader Lab.
The students were then divided into 3 committees: logistics, fundraising, and advertising. The event took place on campus May 12 with several clubs participating in the event including cheer, culinary art, band, and more. There were stations for students to play games, culinary arts had snacks ready for the participants, and the Chick-fil-A Cow and West cheerleaders encouraged all the athletes at each of the stations.Students were selected by the school to participate in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ which is a national high school leadership program focused on impact through action. The program engages students with a monthly Leader Lab focused on leadership skills and empowers students to put their skills into action.
