The Speech and Debate team rocked at the district meet decisively winning the Speech team award.
Placing in scoring positions were:
Poetry: Third place, Emily Ward; and Fourth place, Hardy Gatlin.
Prose: Second place, Marcus Sloan; Third place, Amanda Sass; and Sixth place, MaryAnn Powers.
Persuasive Speaking: Fourth place, Emily Ward; and Fifth place, Ethan Eyre.
Informative Speaking: Tied for First place, Eric Gagliano and Marcus Sloan; and Fifth place, Cameron Wilson.
LD debate: First place, Eric Gagliano; Second place, Blake Hale; and Third place, Ethan Eyre.
CX Debate: First place, Amanda Sass and Emily Ward; Second place, Hardy Gatlin and Cameron Wilson.

The One Act Play performed “Dying for It” contributing points to the district championship and earned many awards: Trip Gauntt for Best Actor; Allie Re and Jacob Edwards for Honorable Mention All-Star Cast; and Amy Kramr for Outstanding Technician.

They have since advanced and won the bi-district championship including these awards: Allie Re for Best Actress; Trip Gauntt and Charity Whitfield for All-Star Cast; Samantha Fedotova for Honorable Mention Cast; the Crew (Rachel Sanchez, Amy Kramr, Dylan Mayes, Parker Barnett, and Darby Salge) for Overall Top Technical Crew; and Parker Barnett for Outstanding Technician. The play is now preparing to compete at the area level of competition.

The Magnolia High School UIL Academic team had set eminence as their goal—it was achieved. The team is now preparing for the region meet which is being held at Magnolia High School on April 24 and 25. Congratulations to each and every competitor and good luck at the region meet!
