School Board Honors April Students of the Month

Drew Cheshire has attended Nichols Sawmill Elementary (NSE) since prekindergarten. Drew is an outstanding student inside school and in the community. She has been a faithful member of the NSE Choir and Safety Patrol. Rain, cold, wind and heat, she focuses on the safety of students and takes her job at early morning car rider line very seriously. Her classmates describe her as a sweet friend with a caring heart. Drew is also very focused on her academics. She has made almost all A’s throughout her time at NSE and has also earned Advanced Academic Performance on STAAR reading in 3rd and 4th grade.

Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Giles say, “Drew is a very special young lady. She works hard and is very responsible. Her classmates love her because she is a true friend and a kind leader. We are proud to be her teachers.” Mrs. Stewart, our librarian, loves to see Drew and guides her on her search for books involving fantasy or details about animals. She is never short on words when sharing about a recent book she has read...which seems to be about one a night!

Outside of school, Drew works hard and is dedicated to anything she does. Drew is an avid swimmer and performs at the top of her group for MAC. Her hard work is especially evident in her work in the FFA. Drew is a highly decorated member with 3 belt buckles for showmanship, 6 for grand champion, and 3 for reserve grand champion for her lambs and one goat. Drew wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up and possibly attend Texas A&M University.
