Magnolia ISD High Schools Named to List of Most Challenging High Schools

Only 11% of the approximately 22,000 public high schools in the U.S. made the list. Magnolia High School and Magnolia West High School rank among 178 public schools listed in Texas. The formula takes the number of Advanced Placement exams given in the 2014 school year divided by the number of graduates that year.

Superintendent Dr. Todd Stephens stated, “I am proud of our teachers and staff for their dedication to outstanding instruction. Offering AP courses is one of several options for students seeking a college preparatory opportunity.” Successful completion of the exams can earn college credit for students and research has shown participation tends to improve student performance in college.

Magnolia ISD has seen a 45% increase in the number of students taking the exams. This increase is due to the school board and administration working to provide increased advanced academic opportunities for students.
