Magnolia ISD Announces New Adventures Program for After School

The After School Adventures Program will be offered at each of the eight elementary schools for students in grades K-5. The hours of operation will be from school dismissal until 6:30 p.m. The program will also operate on professional development days and holidays throughout the year to accommodate staff and parents who are working during those times.

Director of After School Programs Stephanie Saker explains, “We recognize that the children have been in school all day and our intent of the program is to provide them with a healthy blend of fun, meaningful and adventurous activities as well as academic and enrichment-based components. We are thrilled to be able to offer after school programming in the comfort and security of the student’s elementary school. ”

The program has many academic and enrichment-based components and activities will rotate from movement to hands-on as children transition throughout the afternoon participating in: STEM, literacy, physical fitness, creativity, problem solving, college and career readiness, healthy living, leadership, family engagement opportunities, and more. Students will have the opportunity to work on homework, participate in exploration stations and each month will have a theme-based curriculum.

Select enrichment courses will also be offered throughout the year and will be unique to each elementary campus. Enrichment courses will run for 6 weeks, two days a week and will be led by instructors who are skilled in a particular topic or area. The program will also offer daily drop-in for those who may need an occasional purpose to have their child stay after school. Starting in the summer of 2017, Magnolia ISD will offer Camp Adventures for summer camp and activities.

Registration is open and can be completed online at For questions about the program, contact Stephanie Saker at 281.356.3571 or
