Dion Rivera Named Principal for Smith Elementary

“I am excited to continue to serve Smith Elementary and our community! I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the entire school community – students, staff, parents and community members so we can continue to provide the best experience and create the best opportunities for our students,” stated Miss Rivera.
Miss Rivera has provided leadership at the campus since 2015 when she began her role in administration as the assistant principal. She has nine years teaching experience in Magnolia ISD and was the 2014-2015 Region 6 Teacher of the Year. With her passion for education and doing what is best for our students, Miss Rivera is dedicated to providing a rich learning environment centered on student success.
Miss Rivera grew up in Magnolia, is a graduate of Magnolia High School, and has great pride in our schools and the community. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master’s degree in English from Sam Houston State University and a Master’s degree in Education Administration from Lamar University. She has been recognized for her leadership by her peers as the Magnolia Elementary 2010 Campus Teacher of the Year and a scholarship recipient of the Mickelson Exxon Mobile Teachers Academy in 2015.
