Mrs. Brittany Marrs, faculty sponsor who is overseeing The Big Event shared, “The idea was sparked after our student leadership visit to Texas A&M Mays Business School. The University hosts The Big Event each year with over 22,000 student volunteers and it has become a day that the community is transformed. Our Student Leadership Program saw this as an opportunity to give back to our community, focus on helping each other creating a lasting impact on our community.”

The Big Event is currently happening at over 100 universities and throughout the nation and globally including Costa Rica, China, Germany, and Pakistan. The Big Event has become the largest one-day student-run service project in the nation and the message is simple, “to say ‘Thank you.’”
Next year, the goal will be to bring together Magnolia West Serves Day and businesses within the community to participate in this one-day volunteer project.
