Jim Gassaway Named Assistant Principal at Bear Branch Intermediate

“I am excited to be a part of the administration team at the new intermediate school! I look forward to working with the teachers and staff and connecting with our parents and students,” stated Mr. Gassaway.

He has 16 years in public education with the past three years with Magnolia ISD as the assistant principal at Nichols Sawmill Elementary. He began his career as a band director in Kosciusko, Mississippi where he increased the band program enrollment by 60% during his seven-year tenure. He spent the next seven years working in school administration with the Starkville School District in Starkville, Mississippi where he was an assistant principal at the elementary and junior high campuses.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Masters degree in educational leadership both from Mississippi State University. He has been recognized as an Outstanding Certified Educator in 2013, 2011 and 2010.

He and his wife Brittany have a son Nic and welcomed a new baby girl Molly Grace earlier this year. Mr. Gassaway enjoys Texas foods, reading books on leadership and historical fiction, playing the bass guitar and watching college sports.
