Dr. Ben Petty Named Bear Branch Jr. High Principal

“I am very excited to be a part of the Bear Branch community. I’m honored to have been selected for this position, and look forward to working collaboratively with the entire school community and to continue the great things happening at Bear Branch Junior High,” stated Dr. Petty.
At Magnolia High School, he was responsible for the oversight of the campus curriculum and instruction including advanced academics--International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Credit. He also worked with campus administration and department chairs to assist in the development and facilitation of professional development for staff.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Florida College, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Sam Houston State University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. He is a former Rotarian and graduate of Leadership Brazos in Bryan/College Station.
He and his wife Erin, who is a dental hygienist in the Magnolia area, have been married for 16 years and have two boys, ages 10 and 8, that attend schools in Magnolia ISD. Blaine will be a 5th grader at Bear Branch Intermediate and Evan will be a 3rd grader at Magnolia Parkway Elementary. They are active members of the community and attend Decker Prairie Church of Christ.
