Magnolia West Student Congressional Art Competition Winner

Magnolia, Texas (May 31, 2019) - Congressman Kevin Brady announced the winner of the 2019 Congressional Art Competition. Jake Hall, a senior at Magnolia West High School, was selected for his piece, “The Final Journey”. His work, as well as the other winning pieces from each congressional district, will be displayed in the halls of the United States Capitol Building for a year.

District Honors 2019 Teachers of the Year

Meredith Arterburn, a World Geography teacher at Magnolia West High School and Victoria Macicek, a second grade math and science teacher at Ellisor Elementary were named Secondary and Elementary Teachers of the Year. These two teachers will represent Magnolia ISD in the Region 6 Teacher of the Year selection process held in August.

Trustee Participates in Leadership Program

(Austin) – Kelly McDonald, trustee from Magnolia ISD, joined 33 other school board members from across Texas April 11-13 in Tyler for the fourth session of the Leadership TASB (LTASB) class of 2019. Selected by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), the group is participating in a yearlong education leadership study program. These trustees represent school districts of all sizes, with student populations of 114 to 215,408, and reflect a similar range of property wealth.
