JROTC Cadet Earns Her Gold Badge

Magnolia, Texas (February 19, 2019) - Magnolia senior Jasmine Wilkerson is the Battalion Commander of the Magnolia Navy JROTC, and her second hat is the captain of the 3 position Air Rifle Team. Jasmine has been shooting for Magnolia for 3 years. She has excelled faster and farther than any Magnolia JROTC cadet before her, finishing her career earning the Civilian Marksmanship’s Excellence in Competition (EIC) Gold Badge.

Magnolia West ACADEC Places Second Overall

Magnolia, Texas (February 19, 2019) - Magnolia West High School Academic Decathlon Team went to Regional Competition earlier this month and placed 2nd in the competition. They also placed 2nd in Superquiz Bowl and took home 33 individual awards. "This team worked very hard, practicing many hours even during the holidays, to prepare for competition. I am so honored to coach them and very proud of their accomplishments." said their coach, Catherine Page.

Magnolia ISD Names JD Berna as Athletic Director

Magnolia, Texas (February 11,2019) – JD Berna has been named the new athletic director for Magnolia ISD. Berna has been the head coach at Magnolia West High School for the past three years and in 2017 was named District 20-5A Coach of the Year.

In his three years at West, he had a winning record of 25 - 9. In 2016, 2017, 2018 he brought the team to be Bi-district Finalists and in 2017 District Champions. His expertise in all areas of coaching and administration will help to further the foundation of the district’s athletic programs.

Magnolia High Students Selected as Texas All-State Musicians

Magnolia, Texas (February 11, 2019) - Jenna Stone, Cole Maney, Jeffrey Kean, and Jared Zawadzki, members of the Magnolia High School Band will perform with the Texas All-State 5A Symphonic Band in San Antonio, Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2019 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention. They were chosen for this prestigious honor through a competitive process held this year across the state at District, Region, and Area levels.

Magnolia West Senior Candidate for Presidential Scholars Program

Magnolia, Texas (February 8, 2019) – Magnolia West High School senior Joshua Watzak has been selected as a candidate for the United States Presidential Scholars Program. He will now submit candidacy materials for review and evaluation in hopes of becoming one of the 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.

District Science Fair Winners Advance to Region

Magnolia, Texas (January 18, 2019) – Magnolia ISD held its 15th annual Science Fair on Saturday, January 12 at the Magnolia Event Center for the district junior high school students. The students who placed first, second and third place are now eligible to advance to the regional Science Engineering Fair of Houston at the end of February.
