Plans to Honor the Class of 2020

GRADUATION

Last week, the Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced guidelines for end of the year events such as graduation and prom that all schools are required to follow. While we must be in compliance with the State requirements, we also want a traditional ceremony for the Class of 2020. To that end, we have selected an outdoor venue that not only meets these requirements but also provides for as many guests to attend as social distancing guidelines allow.

Graduation Day

Tuesday, June 9th with a weather make up day on Wednesday, June 10th.

Woodforest Bank Stadium located at 19115 David Memorial Drive Shenandoah, TX 77385.

Magnolia West High School will graduate at 8 AM

Magnolia High School will graduate at 8 PM

Parking and Entrance Gates
All entrances to the parking areas, Stadium, and guest group seating are color-coded. Please make sure that you follow your color and park, enter, and sit in the areas designated for your group.Graduates will follow the same color as their guest group.
All gates will open one hour prior to the start of the ceremony. Remember – traffic will be heavy so it will be imperative that graduates and guests allow for appropriate travel time to the stadium. Parking will be color-coded.

Tickets
Students will receive 1 graduate ticket and 4 guest tickets. Tickets will be color-coded and will note section and seat number as well as home or visitor side. Children preschool age and under who are comfortable sitting in an adult’s lap are not required to have a ticket; however, they will be required to sit in a parent’s lap upon arrival to the seating area where they must remain until the end of the ceremony.

Dress for Graduation

It is recommended that female graduates wear a dress or dress pants, a blouse, and flat-soled dress shoes. High heels are not recommended as it is extremely difficult to walk on the turf in heels. Male graduates are recommended to wear slacks, a collared shirt, and dress shoes.

Ceremony

A large portion of the ceremony has been pre-recorded to practice health and safety guidelines. Following the guidelines, there will be no rehearsal, and graduates and their families will enter the stadium through their color-coded designated entrance to take their seats.

The ceremony will be live-streamed on the District’s Communication YouTube page.
