Effective April 1, 1986, all new employees are required by law to contribute 1.45% of their gross salary to Medicare.  The district will make a matching 1.45% contribution for each eligible employee.

This deduction will provide Medicare benefits for eligible employees reaching Medicare age.  This is not a deduction for Social Security benefits.  The district is not required to deduct Social Security contributions for any employee.
