Referral Program

Refer A Teacher Employee Stipend
MISD employees will earn extra money for every successful certified classroom teacher they refer to the district's new Teacher Referral Program. Earn $1,000 for every new Texas certified teacher successfully hired; $1,500 for every new special education, bilingual and foreign language teacher hired; and $500 for certified out-of-state teacher hired.
 
There is no cap on the stipend amount that can be earned!

Current MISD employees who recommend an individual for hire as a certified classroom teacher will receive a one-time stipend for the referral and the successful hiring of a certified classroom teacher to the school district for the 2022-2023 school year. The new, full-time certified teacher must be recommended for hire by a campus administrator by August 1, 2022, sign a 2022-2023 teacher contract, and start work by August 12, 2022, in order for the referring MISD employee to qualify for the incentive program.


All current MISD employees are eligible for the Certified Teacher Referral Incentive program except for the following positions: Principals, Assistant Principals, District, and campus-level Directors/Coordinators, District Level administrators, Campus Athletic Coordinators. 


Category 1: Texas Certified Teacher

New, full-time certified classroom teacher positions to the Magnolia Independent School District, the referring MISD employee will receive $1,000 for each referral and successful hiring to the district. 


Category 2: Texas Certified Special Education, Bilingual and Foreign Language teachers

New, full-time certified classroom teacher positions to the Magnolia Independent School District, the referring MISD employee will receive $1,500 for each referral and successful hiring to the district. 


Category 3:  Out of State Certified Teachers

New, full-time certified classroom teacher positions to the Magnolia Independent School District, the referring MISD employee will receive $500 for each referral and the successful hiring to the district of an out-of-state certified teacher upon approval from TEA. 


Criteria:

  • Only one of the above categories may apply per referral.
  • All qualified stipends will be paid by October 1, 2022.
  • You must be a full-time MISD employee on August 1, 2022, to qualify for the referral stipend.
  • Alternative Certification Program applicants do not qualify.
  • There is no cap on the stipend amount that can be earned.
Refer a Bus Driver Employee Stipend
In an effort to help MISD with the nationwide driver shortage, district employees can earn $1,000 for referring a bus driver for hire.
 
There is no cap on the stipend amount that can be earned by MISD employees!

MISD is offering a stipend to employees who refer a bus driver for hire. The stipends would be effective immediately for the 2022 – 2023 school year. 

  • MISD Employee Referral stipend - $1,000 for any MISD employee that recommends a bus driver and satisfies the eligibility criteria as stated below. 
  •  

In order for a new transportation employee to qualify, the new employee must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • has never worked as a full-time bus driver for MISD OR
  • previous MISD bus drivers must have had a minimum of 1 year (12 months) break in service immediately preceding re-employment with the Magnolia ISD.
  •  

MISD must be notified via the new employee’s employment application or mentioned during the initial bus driver interview that a specific MISD employee referred them to MISD for consideration as a new bus driver.

All current MISD employees are eligible for the Employee Referral stipend except for the following positions: Principals, Assistant Principals, District and Campus-level Coordinators, District Level Administrators, and Campus Athletic Coordinators.


The payout for Employee Referral stipends:

  • MISD employees will receive payment when the referred employee successfully completes training (released as a full-time driver).
  • The referring employee must be a current MISD employee at the time of payout.
  • There is no cap on the stipend amount that can be earned by MISD employees!
Employee Retention Stipend
The Board has approved to provide two $1,000 stipends to all MISD employees for the 2022-2023 school year. Payments will be made to current employees in November 2022 and March 2023.
Early Resignation Incentive
In order to allow MISD additional time to hire qualified replacements or determine the course of action needed to be taken with campus-based professional positions, employees can earn up to $1,500 for submitting their resignation by March 31.

In order to allow the District additional time to find a qualified replacement or determine what course of action needs to be taken with each campus-based professional position, a one-time Early Resignation Incentive program shall be offered to full-time, campus-based professional contract employees who have been faithful in attendance and who submit a letter of resignation to the Executive Director of Human Resources at the Central Office by Thursday, March 31, 2022, subject to the following guidelines:


  • Full-time, campus-based professional contract employees who submit their resignation (effective at the end of their 2021-2022 school year contract) by 4:00 pm on March 31, 2022, will receive a one-time $500 incentive payment less all taxes and appropriate withholdings, and;
  • Full-time, campus-based professional contract employees: The District will “buy-back” up to a maximum of 10 days of accumulated local leave days at a rate of $100.00 per day (maximum of $1,000.00) less all taxes and appropriate withholdings;
  • The employee must submit the required submittal form and fulfill the remainder of their 2021-2022 school year contract and/or obligation and be in good standing with the District. For purposes of this Program, “good standing” means that the employee has not been placed on paid or unpaid leave, has not been proposed for termination, or is not currently under investigation for any actions that require reporting to the State Board for Educator Certification. 
  • The employee shall not use more than two days of discretionary leave during the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year beginning on April 1, 2022;
  • The employee shall be eligible to receive the “one-time $500 incentive payment” and “buy-back reimbursement of leave payment” from the District only once;
  • The “buy-back provision” shall be paid to qualified, full-time campus-based professional contract employees, who submit their letter of resignation (effective at the end of the 2021-2022 school year contract) to the Executive Director of Human Resources by 4:00 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2022, and who satisfy all guidelines as outlined and specified in the program including submitting the required submittal form; 
  • The “Early Resignation Incentive Program” as stated is only offered for the 2021-2022 school year;
  • The one-time payment of up to $1,500 to qualified employees shall be made in their last paycheck.

In order to recruit and hire educators in hard-to-fill areas, Magnolia ISD is offering a stipend to educators in the following positions.


Category 1:  Identified Special Education Professional Positions (*)

New, full-time identified Special Education professional positions to Magnolia Independent School District, who are recommended for hire by a supervisor by June 17, 2022, and sign a contract for the 2022-2023 school year may qualify for the contract signing incentive program as follows beginning on the first pay period for the 2022-2023 school year and contingent on the educator being offered and signing an educator contract for the 2023-2024 school year:

  • Recommended for hire in March 2022               $250 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $6,000
  • Recommended for hire in April 2022                  $166.67 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $4,000
  • Recommended for hire in May 2022                  $125 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $3,000
  • Recommended for hire in June 2022                  $83.34 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $2,000

Category 2:  Texas Certified Bilingual teachers (+)

New, full-time Bilingual certified classroom teachers to the Magnolia Independent School District, who are recommended for hire by a supervisor by June 17, 2022, and sign a contract for the 2022-2023 school year may qualify for the contract signing incentive program as follows beginning on the first pay period for the 2022-2023 school year and contingent on the educator being offered and signing an educator contract for the 2023-2024 school year: 

  • Recommended for hire in March/April 2022            $333.34 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $8,000  
  • Recommended for hire in May 2022                          $250 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $6,000  
  • Recommended for hire in June 2022                          $166.67 per month for up to 24 months, for a total of $4,000  


Category 3:  Texas Certified Secondary Core Subject Teachers including the following certifications: ELA, Math, History & Social Studies certifications, Secondary science certifications (+#)

New, full-time identified secondary certified core subject teachers to Magnolia Independent School District, who are recommended for hire by a supervisor by June 17, 2022, and sign a contract for the 2022-2023 school year may qualify for the contract signing incentive program as follows beginning on the first pay period for the 2022-2023 school year:

  • Recommended for hire in March 2022 $166.67 per month for up to 12 months for a total of $2,000
  • Recommended for hire in April 2022          $125 per month for up to 12 months for a total of $1,500
  • Recommended for hire in May 2022         $83.34 per month for up to 12 months for a total of $1,000
  • Recommended for hire in June 2022            $41.67 per month for up to 12 months for a total of $500

NOTE:

  • * Identified special education professional positions are limited to: Life Skills teachers, ECSE teachers, PASS teachers, BESST teachers, ABLE/AB teachers, Visually Impaired teachers, Occupational Therapist, LSSP, Diagnosticians, Audiologist and Speech Pathologist. The listed professionals must possess a valid and current Texas license or certification and maintain such certification or license.

A TEA-approved, out-of-state certificate one-year teaching permit, may qualify pending an internal review.

  • +Must possess a current and valid Texas certification for the specified teaching assignment. A TEA-approved, out-of-state certificate one-year teaching permit, may qualify pending an internal review. (Certified 4-8 generalist cannot qualify for Category 2)
  • #To qualify for this program, secondary is considered grades 7-12.
  • To qualify for the incentive program, the applicant must be assigned in the area of certification/licensing listed above. The stipend does not entitle the applicant to a specific assignment.  
  • This incentive is not considered part of salary. In the event a qualifying employee is reassigned to a non-qualifying position, the payments shall cease. Additionally, if a qualifying employee’s employment with the Magnolia ISD ends for any reason, the payments shall cease.
  • Individuals enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program do not qualify for the Contract Signing Incentive Program.
  • Individuals will only qualify for one of the above categories
  • Prior employees of the Magnolia ISD may qualify if they have had a “break in service” from the school district for at least one school year (12 months) immediately preceding re-employment with the school district.

MISD is offering a stipend to all new MISD full-time bus drivers effective immediately for the 2022 – 2023 school year. 

  • New Bus Driver stipend – Potential to earn up to $1,000 for all newly hired bus drivers who satisfy the eligibility criteria as stated below. 

In order for a new transportation employee to qualify to receive the hiring stipend, the new employee must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • has never worked as a full-time bus driver for MISD OR
  • previous MISD bus drivers must have had a minimum of 1 year (12 months) break in service immediately preceding re-employment with the Magnolia ISD.

Compensation payout schedule:

The three-part payout schedule for hiring stipends:

  • 50% after successfully completing the required MISD training (released as a full-time driver) 
  • 25% after successfully completing 45 days as of full-time bus driver for the district 
  • 25% upon successfully completing 90 days as a full-time bus driver for the district.
