Enrollment and Transfers

If you are new and recently moved to Magnolia ISD, welcome! We are excited you are here. 
 
As a new family in Magnolia ISD, the information below should provide helpful information on how to enroll your student(s).
 
Registration for the current school year (2021-2022) is open. 
 
Registration for next school year (2022-2023) will open on July 1, 2022.
 
Parents of current and returning students will need to complete the Annual Enrollment Verification, which will be sent out at a later date.
 
 
Enrollment: If you are new to Magnolia ISD and are currently residing in the MISD attendance zones, you must register as a new student.
 
Transfers: Two types of transfers are available;
  • Interdistrict Transfer - If you are in the process of purchasing/building a home that you do not yet reside in (must move in within 90 days)
  • Intradistrict transfer - You reside within the Magnolia ISD attendance zones but are requesting to attend a different campus than where you are zoned to
 
Kindergarten Requirements:
  • Students must be five years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year
 
First Grade Requirements:
Must meet one of the following criteria:
  • Students must be six years of age at the beginning of the school year
  • Been previously enrolled in first grade
  • Completed kindergarten in a public school in another state.
 
All Students:
You do not need to enroll a student who attended Magnolia ISD last year. Any transitions from elementary to secondary will be automatic.
 
Parents of returning and current students will need to complete the Annual Verification Process each year.
 
Documentation Requirements:
  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residency within the district (Parent/Guardian name and address on: a current light, water, or gas bill or lease agreement)
  • Current Immunization Record
  • Proof of Identification (picture ID) of parent or legal guardian enrolling the student
  • Social Security Card (if available)
  • Transcript from previous school (for students with high school credit)

Qualifications:

Students who are four years of age on or before September 1 of the current school year and meet one of the following criteria:

 

  • Unable to speak and comprehend the English language (Limited English Proficient*)
  • Economically disadvantaged (eligible for the National Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program)
  • Homeless
  • Parent is an active duty member of the armed forces of the U.S. including state or a reserved component of the armed forces ordered to active duty.
  • Parent was injured or killed while serving on active duty of the armed forces of the U.S. including state or a reserved component of the armed forces.
  • Child who has ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective Services following an adversary hearing.
 
*To enroll as Limited English Proficient, the child must be present and administered a test to establish the child's level of English language proficiency.
 
Registration Requirements:

Magnolia ISD Pre-K Registration Information Sheet
You reside inside Magnolia ISD but are requesting to attend a campus different than where your home is zoned to or if you are in the process of purchasing/building a home that you do not yet reside in (must move in within 90 days).
 
Please review the Magnolia ISD Board Policy before requesting a transfer.
 
Scenarios
If you live within the Magnolia ISD attendance zones and have already moved to another location within the Magnolia ISD attendance zones, please contact the campus registrar at the school your child will be attending with proof of residency.
 
If you live within the Magnolia ISD attendance zones and have already moved to another location within Magnolia ISD, but wish to continue attending your same campus, you will need to complete a transfer request.
 
If you live within the Magnolia ISD zones and are planning to move to another address in Magnolia ISD within 90 days of enrollment, you are considered a transfer.
 
If you live outside of the Magnolia ISD zones and plan to move to a new residence that is zoned to Magnolia ISD within 90 days of enrollment, you may apply for a transfer.
 
If you are transferring from another district, the following documentation is also needed:
  • Withdrawal form from previous school
  • Most recent report card from previous school
 
 
Magnolia ISD has suspended the Open Enrollment program for new applicants for the 2022-2023 school year. Students and siblings who are currently participating in the Open Enrollment program will be grandfathered.
 
The program will be on hold until MISD can address the long-range planning of facilities. The district has grown over 4.7% this school year with more growth expected in the next several years.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration for the 2022-2023 school year will open online on April 30 and Kindergarten Roundup will take place on the campuses May 3 and 4.
