Culture in Magnolia ISD
We are focused on keeping the "main thing" our students, but we are also focused on showcasing our staff, honoring and celebrating each of them and all that they do for the students in Magnolia ISD each and every day.
There are many events, celebrations, and recognitions that we have created, and take part in throughout the year. We kickoff each school year with a fun, and exciting Convocation, and close out the year with our Campus Appreciation Event. With the help of the Magnolia Education Foundation, there are also several staff recognitions, grant opportunities, and scholarship programs happening throughout the year.
Magnolia ISD is a great place to work, and live!
Each year we are proud to host all of our Staff Banquet in which we celebrate and honor one teacher, one paraprofessional and one rookie of the year from each of our 15 campuses. A district winner is also named at this event.
We enjoy some outside of the classroom fun at our staff volleyball tournament.
We host an annual Christmas Celebration where staff are invited for lunch, live holiday entertainment, raffles, and more to kickoff the holiday break!
To kickoff the summer, we host our Campus Appreciation event where staff are invited for a meal, fellowship and and end-of-the-year gift.
The Magnolia Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that is focused on supporting the staff and students in Magnolia ISD through employee recognitions, funding of classroom grants, scholarship opportunities and sponsoring the district's annual Magnolia Reads Jubilee.
Ways the Foundation helps:
Employee Recognitions:
- $500 grant to the two District Rookies of the Year
- Celebrate each Teacher of the Month
- Celebrate a Bus Driver and Monitor each month
- Star Educators - a unique way for parents and the community to nominate and recognize their favorite educators focused on making an impact on students
Grants:
To-date, the Foundation has awarded nearly $1 million in classroom and educator grants. The purpose of the grants is to enhance, promote, and augment classroom instruction in areas not allotted regular budget funds. These grants directly impact the quality of education for Magnolia ISD students while also growing our teachers professionally.
Scholarships:
- Senior Star Scholarship - open to all graduating seniors who's parent is an MISD employee
- Coach Morris Scholarship - open to all graduating seniors, funded by the family of Alex Morris, a former Magnolia West High School teacher and coach to honor his life and legacy.
- Ready to Teach Scholarship - Through the Coach Morris Endowment, full-time Magnolia ISD employees who are obtaining an Alternative Teacher Certification and to paraprofessionals who are working towards become teachers.
