Magnolia ISD librarians welcomed students and families to the sixth annual Magnolia Reads Jubilee on Friday, May 30, at the Magnolia Event Center. Originally launched in 2019 through a grant from the Magnolia Education Foundation, the event has grown into a beloved summer tradition that inspires a love of reading across the district.

The Magnolia Education Foundation continues to proudly serve as the event’s title sponsor, generously contributing $10,000 toward the purchase of books for students. This year’s Jubilee drew hundreds of eager readers who enjoyed carnival-style games, community booths, and the chance to win free books, all designed to promote reading engagement and strengthen literacy skills over the summer break.

Open to all Magnolia ISD elementary and intermediate students, the event also featured a wide variety of local vendors and organizations, including the Boy & Girl Scouts, Society of Samaritans, Montgomery County Library, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, H-E-B, and Chick-fil-A Magnolia. A highlight for many students was the opportunity to select a book of their choice at the on-site book fair.

The Jubilee offered exciting hands-on experiences as well, including tours of a fire engine provided by the Magnolia Fire Department. Constable Chris Jones added to the festive atmosphere by providing and grilling hot dogs for all attendees.

A thank you goes to H-E-B for donating the water bottles, and to Gordon Food Service for providing the hot dog buns. Each student also received a drawstring backpack, perfect for carrying their new books, thanks to Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, this year’s backpack sponsor.

With strong community support and enthusiastic student participation, the Magnolia Reads Jubilee continues to spark excitement for reading and set the stage for a successful summer of learning.
