Dr. Travis Moffatt Steps Down
At Monday night's Board meeting, the district administration and Board honored outgoing trustee Dr. Travis Moffatt for his nine years of service to Magnolia ISD's board, staff, and students.
"Travis has been an example of true servant leadership. It was his goal to engage and make a difference in our community. Magnolia ISD is better because of your leadership and commitment to our district. Thank you," stated Superintendent Dr. Todd Stephens.
Dr. Moffatt was first elected to the Board in 2015. He and his wife, Cammi, have two children who are graduates of Magnolia High School. He owns and practices at Moffatt Eye Care and is an active community member.
Thank you to Dr. Moffatt for always being an advocate for our staff and students in Magnolia ISD.
During the May board meeting, new board members David McCarty and Jordan Blake, who was appointed in September 2023, were both sworn in for three-year terms.
David McCarty Sworn In for Board Position 6
David McCarty replaced outgoing Board member Dr. Travis Moffatt. David has lived in Magnolia for 31 years. He graduated from Magnolia High School in 2000 and attended Sam Houston State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Stacy, who is also a
graduate of Magnolia. They recently served on the 2024 Parent Leadership Committee and have two daughters who attend MISD schools.
David began his career at an early age working for his grandfather in the family construction business. He quickly became their General Superintendent and was responsible for the successful completion of thousands of units in multiple states.
David decided to take his career to new heights, earned a commercial pilot license, and flew private charters while operating his own construction company. He later founded McCarty Development Company is currently the President of the MDC Companies, which operates in downtown Magnolia.
Jordan Blake Sworn in for Board Position 7
Jordan Blake’s position was uncontested and will serve in Position 7.
Jordan graduated from Magnolia High School and attended and played baseball for Harding University. After receiving his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Harding, he got a Master's in Business Administration and Master of Healthcare Services Management from Texas Woman’s University. Jordan has spent most of his career in the Senior Living industry and is a licensed Nursing Facility Administrator.
He and his wife, Ashley, have been married since 2009, and they have two daughters who attend MISD’s schools.
