MWHS Critter Project brings stories to life
Kate Hope

For the third year, students in Ms. Cassata's Education and Training and Fashion Design courses partnered with kindergarten classes at Williams and Magnolia Elementary and delivered handmade stuffed critters to students.

Kindergarten students drew a picture of a critter, and the character drawings were given to the high school students who then brought the critters to life. Students first started by creating a pattern, and then selected fabrics, and eventually sewed and stuffed each critter. Each high school student also wrote a children's story using the character from their kindergartener's drawing.

"Each year we are so impressed by the skillset of these high school students bringing these drawings to life," said Williams SRO Deputy Seibert. "The creativity in these young kids and seeing their critters come to life in these hand-made critters from older students is just amazing."

High school students delivered their critters to the kindergarten students and were able to sit and read their stories as well.
