Choir Takes on Carnegie Hall

Magnolia ISD is proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement by the combined choirs of Magnolia High School and Magnolia West High School, who were invited to perform at the prestigious Harmonic Convergence Concert at Carnegie Hall in New York
City.

Selected as one of only 16 choirs from 15 states to participate, this invitation represents a remarkable honor and a testament to the dedication, talent, and excellence of our student musicians and directors. As part of the highly regarded Choirs of America
Nationals for Top Choirs, students engaged in an immersive, educational experience that culminated in a once-in-a-lifetime performance on one of the world’s most iconic stages.

Throughout their time in New York, students attended rigorous rehearsals and collaborated with renowned conductors of national and international acclaim. These clinicians provided students with invaluable insight and instruction, elevating both their performance skills and musical understanding.

The Magnolia ISD choirs performed both as part of a massed ensemble alongside other top choirs from across the country and in an individual featured performance. The individual performance was conducted by Magnolia West Choir Director Sylvia Garza,
with accompaniment by Magnolia High School Director Thea Persinger. Supporting the ensembles were Magnolia West Co-Director Olivia Inberg and Magnolia High Co-Director Evan Cooper, whose leadership and commitment helped guide students through this
exceptional experience.

A highlight of the concert included the world premiere performance of “Mirrors to Each Other,” a newly commissioned piece by Choirs of America. Students had the rare opportunity to bring this work to life for the very first time, contributing to a meaningful moment in choral music.

For many students, singing at Carnegie Hall is a dream that takes a lifetime to achieve—if at all. For Magnolia ISD students, that dream became a reality. This experience not only showcased their musical talents but also provided lasting memories, growth, and inspiration that will stay with them for years to come.

Magnolia ISD is incredibly proud of these students and directors for representing our district with excellence on a national stage.
