Student Leadership Group at Commissioners Court

The Magnolia ISD Student Leadership 2022-23 cohort has been selected for the academic year. This year, 24 junior-level students have been selected to participate in the program. Superintendent Dr. Todd Stephens had the vision to create a unique learning opportunity for future leaders and develop a program for junior-level students to learn about government leadership and how to be leaders in their community.  

The Magnolia West High School cohort includes AvaLucia Matasso, Caitlin Condon,Ezra Jeanica Talavera, Esabella Vassigh-Botello, Brooklyn Day, Vidhi Patel, Lauren Becker, Faith Matocha, Levi Maxwell, Manning Gordon,Madeline Tollenaere, Brayden Pennington, and faculty sponsors Jeremy Day and Jon Wheeler. 

The cohort from Magnolia High School includes Grant Atkinson,Megan Beuershausen, Emma Darragh, Alexandra Ebbeler, Joy Fayrweather, Luca Giannotti, Ashton, Graves, Caroline Parr, Isabelle Pulido, Summer Reinecke, Ava Violette, Andrew Wernerand, and faculty sponsor Brittany Marrs.

The students started the year with a visit to Commissioners Court to meet with County Judge Mark Keough and Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley.  The students also had the opportunity to attend Judge Kathleen Hamilton’s courtroom to meet with attorneys and understand the court process. 

The district's commitment to this program fosters these young leaders to develop a passion for making a difference and how each one of them can impact their community.  The leadership program focuses on leadership development, the civic awareness of local, county, and state government process, profit and nonprofit leadership, and a course on etiquette. Seniors participate through a capstone project and some of the events listed below. The Magnolia ISD Student Leadership Program was founded in 2012 and continues to develop young leaders today.
