Magnolia West Staff Member's Quick Actions Save a Coworker's Life

What began as a typical Friday afternoon at Magnolia West High School quickly turned into a moment that reminded everyone of the extraordinary people who make up the Magnolia ISD family.

During afternoon bus duty, on what was also a busy pep rally day, Special Education staff member Dianna Matheson made a decision that would change everything. Even though her own child was participating in the pep rally, Diana chose to head outside to her regular bus duty, following her commitment to students and her team.

Out at the bus line, she found her coworker, Courtney Landreau, unconscious. Drawing from her medical and healthcare background, Diana immediately called for help and began performing CPR. Her quick actions and calm under pressure helped save Courtney’s life until additional medical assistance arrived. What could have been an ordinary end to the school day became a powerful example of instinct, training, and selfless dedication.

Since that day, the two have grown even closer—a bond strengthened not only by their shared work in the Special Education program, but also by the reminder of how one person’s decision and care for others can make all the difference.

Magnolia ISD is proud to have staff like Diana and Courtney who go above and beyond for their students, their colleagues, and their community.
