2026 School Board Appreciation
Kate Hope

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Magnolia ISD is celebrating our trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and our students.

This year’s School Board Recognition Month theme is Our Future is Public. This theme helps celebrate, elevate, and highlight the exciting, important, and outstanding things taking place daily in our school districts across the state.

“Serving on a local school board is no easy task, particularly in today’s spotlight on public schools and financial uncertainties from our state legislature," said Superintendent Dr. Jason Bullock. "These men and women are elected to establish the policies that provide the framework for our public schools. They tackle a difficult job and shoulder enormous responsibilities. Overall, they represent you and take their leadership roles seriously by attending lengthy meetings, broadening their knowledge at conferences and seminars, and talking about the schools with business leaders, parents, and neighbors."

School board members are locally elected volunteers who play a vital role in the success of public education. They establish the district's vision, adopt policies, approve budgets, and work closely with district leadership to ensure students remain the top priority in all decisions.

We are incredibly grateful for each of our Board members and their continued dedication to making Magnolia ISD a great place to be!

Board members serving Magnolia ISD are: President Gary Blizzard,  Vice President Dacia Owens, Secretary Sonja Ebel, Assistant Secretary Stacia Norris, Trustee Jordan Blake, Trustee David McCarty, and Trustee Jay Michals.
