The Magnolia ISD Student Leadership 2022-23 cohort visited the Texas A&M Engineering leadership program. Students had the opportunity to meet with MISD Board of Trustee Gary Blizzard, a Chemical Engineering Professor at the college.
Students heard from the Zachry Leadership ambassadors about the engineering leadership program. The assistant director of the Halliburton Engineering Global Programs shared with the group internship opportunities located abroad that may lead to potential careers after college.
The engineering students built a small race car that traveled to Las Vegas to compete in competitions. Students had the chance to sit in the car and take pictures.
The district's commitment to this program fosters these young leaders to develop a passion for making a difference and how each one of them can impact their community. The leadership program focuses on leadership development, the civic awareness of local, county, and state government process, profit and nonprofit leadership, and a course on etiquette. Seniors participate through a capstone project and some of the events listed below. The Magnolia ISD Student Leadership Program was founded in 2012 and continues to develop young leaders today.
