MAGNOLIA NJROTC BATTALION
WELCOME ABOARD MAGNOLIA NJROTC!
Welcome to the Magnolia NJROTC Battalion, where we are committed to developing confident leaders, responsible citizens, and strong teammates through leadership, discipline, service, academics, physical fitness, and competition.
Magnolia NJROTC has established a tradition of excellence and is proud to be recognized as a Distinguished Unit with Honors and a three-time Area 17 Most Outstanding Unit.
Our cadets have also achieved championship-level success, earning Area 17 Championships—the NJROTC equivalent of a State Championship—in Drill, Marksmanship, and Orienteering. Our teams have represented Magnolia and Area 17 on the national stage by competing at the Navy National Championships in all three events.
MORE THAN JUST AN ELECTIVE
Students who join NJROTC as freshmen can earn their required Physical Education (P.E.) credit through participation in the program. Students who have already completed their required P.E. credit can earn their Speech credit through NJROTC. This gives students the opportunity to fulfill graduation requirements while also developing valuable leadership and life skills.
DO I HAVE TO JOIN THE MILITARY?
NO! One of the biggest misconceptions about NJROTC is that joining the program means you will have to serve in the United States military after high school. That is not true.
Becoming an NJROTC cadet does not create any military service obligation or require you to enlist in the United States Armed Forces. NJROTC is a high school leadership and citizenship program designed to help students become more confident, disciplined, responsible, and prepared for their future—whatever career path they choose.
Some of our cadets may choose to pursue military service, ROTC scholarships, or a U.S. Service Academy, while others will attend college, technical school, enter the workforce, or pursue other career opportunities. The choice is yours.
FIND YOUR PLACE. BECOME A LEADER.
Magnolia NJROTC is about much more than credits, trophies, and championships. Our mission is to help young men and women develop the leadership, character, confidence, discipline, teamwork, and sense of responsibility needed to succeed in high school and beyond.
We welcome highly motivated cadets who are ready to challenge themselves, become leaders, serve others, and grow into productive citizens within our community. No previous military experience is required.
Whether your interests are Drill, Color Guard, Marksmanship, Orienteering, Physical Fitness, Raider, Academics, Community Service, or Leadership, there is an opportunity for you to find your place and become part of our team.
Welcome aboard Magnolia NJROTC—where we build leaders, strengthen character, serve our community, and continue a tradition of excellence!
NJROTC ACTIVITY FEE & UNIFORM INFORMATION
There is an annual activity fee of $60.00 for all NJROTC cadets. This fee helps cover expenses associated with participation in the program, including:
- Dry cleaning of issued uniform items upon turn-in
- Unit polo shirt to be worn during NJROTC-sponsored trips and, in some cases, as the designated uniform of the day
- Uniform name tags
- Other required unit and cadet expenses throughout the school year
NJROTC UNIFORMS
The initial issue of required NJROTC uniform components is loaned to cadets at no additional cost. Cadets are responsible for properly caring for all uniform items issued to them.
If an issued uniform item is lost, damaged, or not returned, the cadet will be responsible for paying the current replacement cost of that item.
Students who change their schedule and leave NJROTC must return all issued uniform items or pay for any missing or damaged items before their NJROTC account can be cleared.
Graduating seniors must also ensure that all NJROTC-issued items have been returned and their NJROTC account is completely cleared prior to graduation.
