ARMED & UNARMED DRILL TEAMS

The Armed and Unarmed Drill Teams develop discipline, teamwork, precision, leadership, and attention to detail through competitive military drill.

Regulation Drill – Cadets perform a required sequence of military drill movements while being evaluated on precision, synchronization, military bearing, command voice, and proper execution. Armed Drill is performed with drill rifles, while Unarmed Drill focuses on crisp movements and teamwork without rifles.

Exhibition Drill – Cadets perform creative, fast-paced routines designed to showcase skill, coordination, and teamwork. Armed Exhibition incorporates advanced rifle movements, spins, and exchanges, while Unarmed Exhibition features unique marching sequences, hand movements, and choreographed formations.

Both teams compete at NJROTC drill competitions, representing Magnolia NJROTC while building confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

COLOR GUARD

The NJROTC Color Guard is one of the most visible and respected teams in the unit. Cadets learn to properly carry and present the United States and organizational flags while demonstrating precision, teamwork, military bearing, and respect.

Color Guard teams present the colors at football games, school events, community ceremonies, parades, and other special events. Cadets may also compete at NJROTC drill competitions, where they are evaluated on proper flag and rifle handling, marching, commands, synchronization, and military bearing.

Being part of the Color Guard gives cadets the opportunity to represent Magnolia NJROTC, their schools, and their community with pride and professionalism.

MARKSMANSHIP TEAM

The NJROTC Marksmanship Team teaches cadets discipline, focus, responsibility, and precision through competitive air rifle shooting. Cadets learn proper firearm safety, shooting techniques, range procedures, and how to compete in the prone, standing, and kneeling positions.

Team members participate in postal matches and shoulder-to-shoulder competitions, competing against other NJROTC units locally and nationally. Cadets work to improve their accuracy, consistency, concentration, and ability to perform under pressure.

Marksmanship is a great opportunity for cadets of all experience levels—no previous shooting experience is required!

PHYSICAL FITNESS & RAIDER TEAM

The NJROTC Physical Fitness Team challenges cadets to build strength, endurance, teamwork, and mental toughness while representing Magnolia NJROTC in competitive events.

Competition PT – Cadets train and compete in events such as push-ups, curl-ups, running, relays, and other physical fitness challenges. Team members work together to improve their individual fitness while competing for team and individual awards.

Raider Events – Raiders take fitness to the next level with challenging team-based events that may include obstacle courses, weighted carries, running, strength challenges, and other military-style fitness events. Raider competitions require cadets to work together, communicate, and push themselves beyond their comfort zones.

No matter your current fitness level, if you're willing to work hard, challenge yourself, and be part of a team—there's a place for you!

ORIENTEERING TEAM

The NJROTC Orienteering Team combines physical fitness, navigation, problem-solving, and outdoor adventure into a fast-paced competitive sport. Cadets learn how to use a map and compass to navigate through unfamiliar terrain while locating a series of designated control points.

During competitions, cadets race against the clock to choose the fastest and most efficient route between control points. Success requires endurance, quick decision-making, map-reading skills, confidence, and the ability to stay focused while on the move.

Orienteering is perfect for cadets who enjoy running, hiking, being outdoors, and challenging themselves both physically and mentally. No previous experience is required—we'll teach you everything you need to know!

ACADEMIC TEAM

The NJROTC Academic Team challenges cadets to put their knowledge, teamwork, and quick-thinking skills to the test while competing against other NJROTC units.

Competition Academics – Cadets compete in academic tests at NJROTC competitions covering subjects such as NJROTC knowledge, leadership, military and naval history, current events, science, math, and general academics.

Brain Brawl – A fast-paced, quiz-bowl-style team competition where cadets work together to answer questions quickly and accurately. It challenges their knowledge, communication, teamwork, and ability to think under pressure.

JLAB – The JROTC Leadership & Academic Bowl is a national competition that tests cadets in academics, leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Teams compete through multiple rounds with the opportunity to advance to the national level.
